Friends come to visit; Mcminnville Oregon
After the Lobster feast we spent some time with our friends Rick & Sue.
Sunday was going to be a hot one in Eugene, 92 degrees. We decided to head to the coast to escape the heat. We escaped it alright! It was 55 degrees in Linclon City! We spent a little bit of time on the beach but, as you can see is it was really windy and quite chilly. We decided to head into town and do lunch at a place called the Black Fish Cafe. If you find yourself in Lincoln City and like seafood, I would highly recommend it.
After half a day at the coast we made our way back to Eugene. It is still hard to believe the temp can vary by 40 degrees in a 45 minute drive without much elevation change!
The town of McMinnville has this tiny little theater, and they were showing Al Gore's documentary on global warming, Inconvenient Truth. We had all heard good things about the movie so we decided to check it out. Political views and party allegiances aside, everyone should see this movie and think about not only our countries roll in the environment, but your own personal roll as well. The biggest thing I took from the movie was what a dynamic and motivational speaker Al Gore is; It just makes me wonder where our country would be right now and how different things might be if he had actually become our President? (hopefully that will be the most "political" talk you ever have on this blog :)
With the movie out of the way, it must be time for more food!
Laura and I discovered this great little tapas restaurant in McMinnville on our last visit, La Rambla. The food is reasonable and they have a lot of vegetarian fare, we thought Rick and Sue might enjoy it, I think we all did!
Monday was going to be a travel day for everyone. Rick and Sue were heading back to Vancouver and we were headed to Sumas, Washington. Sumas is a border town that we will use to park the motorhome and commute across to visit the sights of Vancouver and we are going to have a couple of wonderful tour guides!

Whenever the subject of Vancouver has come up, Stephen has always mentioned how pretty Victoria Island is. Let us know if you go! Dawn
