Returning 'Home'

Our return flight to Phoenix was on Monday. The weather in Michigan was just gorgeous, unusual for April. The weather in Phoenix was just as great. Sunny, dry and 80's. We were excited to get back to our bed, after 3 different beds in the past four days. (Thanks to everyone who put us up for the past few days) By the time we landed, got our luggage and got on the road, it was 3PM. We stopped for a late lunch/ early dinner. After the 1.5 hour drive up to Sedona, we settled in for the evening with some TV and popcorn.

Today, Tuesday, I wanted to hit the trails in Sedona, one last time. On Wednesday, we make our way to St George, Utah. We seem to have developed a routine for Sedona; Ride for at least 2 hours, refuel at the Cowboy Club with Cactus Fries and a prickly Pear Margarita. So, the pics for the remainder of the post are borrowed from my previous Sedona post, from November, 2005.

I hit the Bell Rock Path Way, Courthouse Butte Loop and Little horse Trail (just over 2 hours of riding). Laura did the Bell Rock Pathway and Park Loop (about an hour) and headed into town. She picked me up at the trail head later.

After a long day of riding its time to refuel. These cactus can be a real pain in the butt (literally, if you fall!) out on the trail, However....

...We find they are absolutely delicious when sliced, battered, fried and served with a red pepper chipoltle sauce! I would highly recommend pairing with a prickly pear juice margarita as well!

I just can't say enough about the Cowboy Club in Downtown Sedona. Especially the Cactus Fries, YUMMY! If you find yourself in Sedona, definitely check them out.

By 5pm, we headed back home to begin packing up for tomorrows drive. We paid some bills and Quickened our receipts from our trip home. We also received our South Dakota plates for our vehicle. It was kind of weird seeing SD plates on our vehicle, and another nail in the coffin of our former life in Michigan.

You guys should definetly check out the Fruita/Grand Junction trails. It is nice technical desert singletrack. We have been here the past 8 days and love it. Probably not the place you would want to live, but the trails are great...better than Moab in my mind. Best part is that it is only 100 miles from Maob, so it is very accessible. Have fun on your adventure!

I'll second the Fruita trails - they are super fun!

I'm curious, why South Dakota plates??
