From Sea Otter to Sedona....
......And Some REALLY BIG NEWS!
We left the rain of Central, CA behind on Sunday. We made it to Bakersfield and stopped at a Camping World store. We decided this would be a much quieter place to spend the night then a Wal-Mart, which is open 24 hours. There was about 5 other rigs with us in the parking lot, so we felt relatively safe.
On Monday, we traveled from Bakersfield to Bullhead City, AZ. We found a Passport America campground there, for $9. We decided to stop there instead of driving another 100 miles to Kingman, the location of the Wal-mart we plotted out.
Tuesday we made the drive from Bullhead city to Sedona. Well, actually, Camp Verde. Turns out the RV park in Sedona was full, so we are 20 miles southeast of Sedona. The drive was about 280 miles. We passed through some scenic territory as we made our way from 1,000' to 7,500' and back down to 3,500'. It really tested my mountain driving skills, which I must say are starting to improve!
Finally, here we are on Wednesday. We finally have an internet connection! We made our way over to Sedona for some of that legendary Red Rock riding. Here's Laura scooping out the trail from Bell Rock. The weather is absolutely awesome here! It's around 75 degrees, sunny and NO rain.
Now, for the really big news.......we finally sold the house!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just a month shy of one year on the market, we had a couple come in, fall in love with it, and put in a full price non-contingent offer on the spot. No house to sell, no time to waste, they want it now. Can you hear that huge sigh of relief from both of us?
We are flying back home to Michigan for the next 4 days to de-winterize the house for the inspection, pack some remaining items and coordinate the movers on Saturday. This is perfect timing, as its Easter weekend, and we look forward to spending some time with both my mother and Laura's mom! We should be able to get around and visit at least a few of our friends, too! The final closing should be in 2 to 3 weeks.
Now, we start focusing on the next place to live. We've started narrowing down the prospects. So far, Albuquerque, NM; Salt Lake City, UT; Denver, CO; Colorado Springs, CO; Bend, OR; Tucson, AZ (a long shot due to the extreme summer heat!) and somewhere around San Franciso(another LONG shot, due to cost of living!) are all under consideration.
The next three month's will be key, as we swing through many of these area's, to make our way back to Michigan for the month of August.
Stay Tuned!
