Playing in Asheville, North Carolina
We got up real early yesterday because our batteries got low, so everything was beeping.....loud at 5:45am. Ug! We decided just to get an early start on the 300 mile drive to Asheville. Not much to report except a 7 mile downhill on a 6% grade. Rich is starting to handle these like an old pro. We're learning that 10 tons of vehicle picks up speed....fast. We got to Asheville around 3pm. and into our campsite. It's the least expensive RV park in Asheville and definately the most convienent location. It's a bit loud, but nothing in compared to a Wal-Mart parking lot. It's a whole lot nicer to spend $25/night than the $35-40 that other parks in the area are charging. Last night we wandered around the campground with Snuggles and met another couple who has been full-timing in a fifth wheel for 3 years. Originally they are from Florida and are now waiting for a log home to be built.
After talking with them for awhile, we got hungry, so we drove into town and had a lite dinner at a tapas & wine bar. It's based on spanish food & wine, stuff we know very little about, so we took a stab at the wine menu & did quite well.
Today we slept in until about 8:30, then found a vet to take Snuggles to that would trim her nails. They were getting long and sharp. While we were waiting, a lady was fascinated by Snuggles. We put her out on her carrier, while she woo'd the lady with her variations on "Sweetie, Sweet Snuggy, and Baby Sweetie". It gets them everytime!
Later we came back to the moho for lunch before heading out about an hour later for a 2 hour horseback ride. Although we didn't do much except walk and briefly trot, the scenery was beautiful. I've included plenty of riding pics.
After riding, we were starving, so we went to Zen Sushi for the sushi voted #1 in WNC (western North Carolina). It was good, but the atmosphere wasn't as good. We ate outside, because it was nice & cool but there was some girl, about 21 who was talking to her friend.....LOUD...and with a lot of "upspeak" and using the word "like", like every other word. :) I looked at a lady who was sitting at a table behind Rich & she was laughing and shaking her head. I hope I wasn't that annoying when I was 21. Whew!
Now we're back at the moho with plans to sit outside, sipping wine, and people watching. First Snug. and I took a walk around the campground. Nobody is outside, and we started to get very sleepy. I think we'll just get in our jammies and hang out tonight. Tomorrow we plan to hit some mountain bike trails.
