Home!

The nearest campground we could find to Laura's new job was 25 miles away, not exactly what we were hoping for. Laura's new boss helped with getting the word out around the workplace that we were looking for a place to park for the winter. We were put in touch with a couple that has a 9 acre horse property with hook-ups. They have a couple of spots available to rent. We went to check out the space, before we drove the coach up to the property.

The space is beyond anything we could have imagined. We have full hook-ups (and soon cable and highspeed internet) we have an awesome view of the mountains. There is great road and mountain biking accessible right from the property. Laura will be 5 miles from work, more on that later!

So, here's our home for the winter as the sun sets on a blistering 98 degree fall day in sunny Tucson. We have nice trees and plenty of cactus surrounding us. There are lots of desert quail running around the grounds.

Here is the view from our "front porch" as the setting sun turns the mountains of the Coronado National forest a brilliant gold. In the foreground are the outdoor stalls and the riding arena. Laura is hoping some friendly folks with horses(willing to "share") check in really soon :)

Here are the stables, just across from us. Since they have extra room. We were able to "stable" our bikes! We have our own little room to keep bikes and equipment out of the elements and just enough room for me to work on bikes. This was bonus we weren't expecting!

We are quite happy with our surroundings and location. Our landlords Dee & Dennis are quite nice and came by a couple of times during the day to make sure we were making ourselves at home! I know we're going to like it here!

I'll let Laura tell you herself about being so close to work!

I'm getting a scooter!!! When we were in Denver, I test drove a lot of scooters and fell in love with the Buddy, pink to be specific. Since we'd have to buy a carrier to get it to Tucson, we decided to wait until we got here. We'll still need a carrier, but we have 6 mos. to buy one. There's a pink Buddy coming to the scooter store in Tucson that they'll get all prepped and delivered to me. How close to work am I going to be? Well, we'll have to measure the exact distance, but I'm guessing it'll be less than 5 miles! I go to the HR department tomorrow to take a drug screen, get a TB test, and fill out a bunch of paperwork. I'm actually excited to start work for the first time since August, '05.

Did you choose pink on purpose so Rich wont want to ride it? ;-)

I actually saw one of those pink scooters in Ottawa, Ontario a couple of weeks ago. Its so cute! Looks like you have a great spot for the summer. That was a bit of luck for you.

I'll miss your travels now that you're settling down but all the best to both of you!
